The ECMWF GRIB API is an application program interface accessible from C and FORTRAN programs developed for encoding and decoding WMO FM-92 GRIB edition 1 and edition 2 messages.
grib_api performs encoding and deconding as directed by "definition files", that describe the various GRIB dialects and extensions. New GRIB extensions can be supported by providing an extra definition file, without the need of recompiling the library. This package contains the set of definition files distributed by ECMWF.
