The pypy project means to provide a python implementation of the Python interpreter.

This package provides the interpreted version of pypy, which requires a python interpreter to run. It is able to translate itself using several backends. To do this, you will need to install some of the Recommended packages (see README.Debian for more on this), and to upgrade your machine with lots of RAM.

Install this package if you want to translate rpython programs, or to build a custom translated version of the pypy interpreter.
